LoL, well thanks for your replies.
To extend of the nba types of games...sure i played those. But those arent labled RPG. In general RPGs are about progressing your toon...and puttin efford in a toon and watching it getting more powerfull and growing is what drives me to continue playing. If i am going to be as powerfull in 3 months are i am after 2days then is GW a rpg. Or more off a counterstrike like game where you just pick a toon and start shooting eachother. Also with CS you will suck at first...and become better with practice but that doesnt make it a RPG |

No, you won't be able to farm PvP and get honor points for uber equipment. I recommend uninstalling.

There are MANY games where it's all about grinding to more power. From killing boars to farming Stones of Jordan (I want to see the quary for those, BTW, must be MASSIVE) to stomping Illidan or whatever.
Guild wars is NOT one of those games. One of the VERY FEW RPG games that are not like that. So, if you want that, try one of those other games. GW may not be for you. But first, ask yourself this: Once you're level 99, with all the best gear, the perfect build that slaps Azathoth around in .45seconds... ...what are you playing for NOW? |

But yeah... on topic... it really does seem that, at least for now, Guild Wars isn't the game you want to be playing. Everybody else has stated the reasons why... and if you don't see the point of "what this game actually is," I recommend trying another/different game. On the other hand, if you can come to grips with what you can/should do in this game (not just level level level level equip equip equip pwn pwn pwn)... then give it more of a chance and see what you can make out of it. Have fun, or at least try to! |

You could always start a new character... Don't quit the game because you're done with 1 character. You don't have 4+ slots for nothing.
Edit: Also, going for the Legendary Survivor title without farming one spot could give you a good motivation to continue your progress into the campaigns after you've reached level 20. Last edited by Barbie; Feb 28, 2008 at 04:36 PM // 16:36.. |

Horus, I had the same trouble when I first started playing this game a few years ago. I was used to the typical RPG (although not the MMORPGs) - fight small monsters & level & get better equipment, fight harder monsters & level & get better equipment, fight harder monsters...etc.
When I reached level 20 about 1/3 through Prophecies, I thought "Hmmm thats it?? Am I near the end of the game??" But in this game you have to put aside the typical RPG mindset and think of it more as a first person shooter pvp-wise. You have the same options on guns as the guys on the other side, but the more you play it the better you get at killing the other guy and staying alive. Same with this game, especially pvp wise. Everyone is on equal footing (max lvl 20 and max equipment), you win mostly if you have better skill or a build that would beat their build. Thats why a person who has been playing for 2 months would often lose to a guy who has been playing for 2 years, even though everything else is equal. So just like a FPS, you get better at playing the game, not necessarilry better weapons or armor. In regards to pve, you max out at lvl 20, however the monsters still get harder as you progress. You may be at level 20 in the Maguuma jungle, however when you get to the Southern Shiverpeaks, you are regularly fighting lvl 24 dwarves and lvl 28 bosses in large mobs. So your character hasnt progressed, but your skill has. Hope this helped, but anyways have fun. |

And PvP. Let me ask you: why on earth would I want to spend 300-500 hours unlocking necessary skills, runes and other mods just to be able to play competitively? Instead of picking up some decent shooter like Counter-Strike or RTS like Warcraft III, install it and be playing on even field against other players in 15 minutes? You know, those games that were build from bottom up to be played competitively, and utmost importance placed on ensuring that no gimmicks could surface? As we have sadly seen, ANET doesn't even seem to care what kind of crap they're releasing. Quote:
